Christians in general use the term "testify" or "to give one's testimony" to mean "the story of how one
became a Christian". A Christian testimony cannot be separated from the Bible's Gospel, so it is actually a
Gospel-Testimony (GT). Jesus wants each Christian to give ones Gospel-Testimony. In Matthew 10:31-33
(NKJV) Jesus said, “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father
who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven."
Jesus also said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."—Mark 16:15
"Gospel" means "Good News". The Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ (God's grace) is for those who
believe the Bible's Gospel and live by its New Testament Christian lifestyle. The Bible makes it clear that
good works, obeying God's Word, are the BY-PRODUCTS of "true" salvation. You cannot be saved by good
works, but they are the EVIDENCE that you were "truly" saved and are "not merely" Christian in name only.
For proof of that statement, read Luke 6:46-50; Ephesians 2:8-10; James 2:18-26, and watch a video:
